This month, we are excited to announce our very first MWP, Ammie Pierce!

Ammie is a stay-at-home wife, mother of 5, and homeschooling parent, navigating the delicate balance of nurturing her children’s minds and hearts while fostering a purpose-driven family life.
For Ammie, being a Mom with Purpose means leaving a lasting impression on her children, shaping them into respectful, responsible adults who contribute meaningfully to society.
Despite the challenges of motherhood—constant judgment, self-imposed standards, and never-ending to-do lists—Ammie finds balance by prioritizing family time and creating moments for fun and exploration, like turning baking sessions into chemistry lessons.
Her advice to fellow moms? Embrace what works best for you and your kids, knowing that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting.
Ammie said that being a mom with purpose is more than daily check-lists and going through the motions, it’s about leaving an impression on her kids, enough so “that they remember it when they’re grown.” When it comes to balancing motherhood with other expectations, she sets boundaries. When she is homeschooling her children, she allows flexibility. When all the school tasks aren’t completed on time, instead of extending the school day, they’ll adjust their schedule. Family time, away from school time, is a priority. It is a careful balance for homeschool families.

Let’s take a closer look. Here’s more from the delightful interview with Ammie:
What are your hobbies?
“I’m allowed to have hobbies? Driving a taxi around in the evening to my kids’ specials. I’m not really sure I have hobbies. You could put Taekwondo. Honestly, I consider it more of an exercise time away from the kids. Hanging out with my husband is sort of my favorite hobby. We like to go hiking and camping.”
What do you love most about being a mom?
“I think the thing I like best about being a mom is watching my kids grow up to be polite, respectful adults in society. Seeing them put themselves out there to make a name for themselves.”
What has been the biggest challenge of being a mom?
“Being a mom. Being a mom is hard. It doesn’t matter whether you have one kid or two kids or ten kids. It’s the constant judging by other people – keeping up with their standards or even my own. I can be hard on myself and I know other moms are too. You have to do better and do more and make sure everything is always taken care of. All the things of being a mom – running a household.”
How do you balance work-life?
“One of the ways I try to balance it. I am not always successful. I try to make sure even when the to-do list is not done or assignments aren’t completed, I still try to cut things off. Just because we live at school doesn’t mean we can do school all the time. We also try to do a fun Friday that may or not be school related. Sometimes it’s field trips or science experiments. One Friday last year, the 5 kids and I made sugar cookies to represent the entire periodic table. It taught them elements and chemistry. Every time they ate a cookie, they had to look up the element. Then it turned into art with coloring the cookies to match the elements.”
How do you balance relationships with kids/working?
“A couple things. Number one, we have at least one planned date night every month. We also do one planned date day every month where we leave or do something together a majority of the day – apart from the kids, even if we spend it at home. Once, we laid in bed all day and binge-watched the Big Bang Theory. The other things we do is try to sneak out for lunch when David is working from home. Or, we might go for a walk. We’ve always told the kids there was a mom and dad before there were kids.”
What’s one piece of advice you would give other moms?
“I think the one piece of advice I would give another mom is to do what is right for you and your kids. What works for me and my kids may not work for you and your kids, and that’s okay.”
Can you share a memorable parenting moment that has had a significant impact on you?
“Probably when Isaak earned his Eagle Scout. It’s always been one of those things where you judge yourself or try to do better and that was a day when I thought ‘Hey, we didn’t do so bad!’”
Can you share a favorite family tradition or activity that brings you all together?
“Obviously, there’s the typical birthdays and Christmas and going to mass. I think one of my favorite ones is camping. We have this unwritten rule that the kids are not allowed to have their screens. They can only have them in the car on the way there. It brings us together and we sit around the campfire to chat at night. We go hiking or swimming during the day. It’s a reconnection for us without the distractions of everyday life.”
Ammie also wanted to add her appreciation for the friends God has brought into her life. “I didn’t have a ton of friends when I was younger. The women in my life have been a blessing to me and I am grateful for that.”
Being a Mom with Purpose is about realizing what is truly important in our role as a mother. It is easy to get caught up in the daily demands of parenting. Take Ammie’s advice, there is no one size fits all. We are on this journey together. Surround yourself with supportive friends and encourage one another along the way.
We appreciate Ammie accepting her nomination and sharing a little bit of her adventures with us. You can be successful in life while being a kick-butt mom like Ammie too.
